A differenza del biglietto Interrail, che se scelto nella sua versione "global pass" permette di viaggiare per tutta Europa, lo Scanrail è adatto se il vostro viaggio si svolge prevalentemente nei Paesi Scandinavi.

Limitato a Danimarca, Svezia, Finlandia e Norvegia, viene venduto in quattro versioni: tre permettono di scegliere 5, 10 o 15 giorin in cui viaggiare nell'arco di due mesi (se prendete un notturno, a cavallo tra due giorni, ve ne calcolano però solo uno!) oppure un pass continuo senza limiti per 21 giorni.
